  1. Create a Splunk account

Sign up for a free Splunk account with your work email address.

    • Use your company email address (for example, name@yourcompany.com). Don't use a personal email such as Gmail or Outlook.com.
    • Enter your company's full registered name in the Company field. Use the same company name that appears on your Splunk contract.
    • Verify your email address using the link that Splunk sends you.
    Already have a Splunk account?

If you already use a Splunk account (for example, for Splunk Support or Splunkbase) and it uses your company email, you don't need a new one. Go to Step 2.

  2. Inform your Splunk Account Team

After you create your Splunk account, let your Splunk Account Team contact know. They will link your account to your company's organization in STEP so that you can see and use your company's Training Units.

Include these details in your message:

    • Your full name
    • The company email address that you used for your Splunk account
    • Your company name
Don't know who your Account Team contact is?

Ask the person in your company who manages your Splunk contract, or email splunk_training@cisco.com.

  3. Log in to STEP

Go to the Splunk Training & Education Portal (STEP) and log in with your Splunk account credentials (the same username and password that you created in Step 1).

  4. View your Training Unit Agreement (TUA)

After your account is linked, your company's TUA is visible in your STEP profile.

    1. In the left panel, click Training Unit.
    2. To see both active and expired agreements, in the Training unit status list, select All.

You can see each agreement's expiration date, total Training Units and available Training Units.

Click Training Unit (1), then select All in the status list (2). Click the image to zoom in.
    Can't see your TUA?

Contact your Splunk Account Team, or email splunk_training@cisco.com for help.

Next: use your Training Units

Register for a class and pay with Training Units

After you can see your TUA, you can register for a class and pay for it with your company's Training Units when you check out.

Before you register

Check with your company's Customer Organization Manager (COM) or training coordinator that you're approved to use Training Units for the class.

1 Find a class and check out

  1. In STEP, search the Learning Catalog for the course that you want.
  2. Choose a class (date, time and delivery type) and register for it, or add it to your cart.
  3. Go to your cart and check out. The Review Order page appears.

2 Pay with Training Units and complete the order

  1. Check your class details on the Review Order page.
  2. In Item Details, select Training Units to show your company's available Training Unit Agreements.
  3. In the Payment Method section, enter the number of Training Units to use in the Training unit box.
  4. Click APPLY.
  5. Check the order, then click COMPLETE ORDER to finish your registration.
Letters in the screenshot match the steps above. Check the "Training unit required" and "Remaining training unit" values before you click APPLY.
Good to know
  • To see your registered classes, open Plan in the left panel of STEP. To see your past orders, open Order History.
  • Registered the wrong instructor-led class? Ask your COM to drop it at least 1 week before the class starts. All the Training Units are refunded.
  • eLearning classes can't be dropped after you register, because the content is available straight away.
Are you the credit owner?

To manage your members and Training Units, you need to be added as the Customer Organization Manager (COM). Contact your Splunk Account Team, or email splunk_training@cisco.com, to add you (or a colleague) as the COM.
